THE AGRONOMIST ANSWERS ON HOW TO GROW AND CARE FOR PLANTS

QUESTION ABOUT SILVER FISH (LEPISMATIDAE)

HOW CAN I FIGHT SILVER FISH?

QUESTION OF MARY

Dear Dr. Davoli,

I also have some discomfort because of the so-called silverfish.

I have always solved the problem by spraying insecticide all over the house every semester, but since I got pregnant with my daughter I have avoided for fear of intoxication.

Now that the baby is four months old I find myself with the house almost invaded, I even found one on her bib folded on the table!

I have read about boric acid and I would like to try, but can you tell me if I can put the powder inside the vaporetto together with water? otherwise how can I do technically?

Also, are there any insecticides that are harmless to humans?

Thanks so much.

Maria

AGRONOM ANSWERS

Dearest Maria, you can put boric acid directly into the vaporetto mixed with water, it is the most effective method to fight them.

Read what I havewritten to Sara, she also has (I hope now she had) a problem similar to yours, to use natural repellents and not harmful to humans.

Personally, as you did, I would not use any type of insecticide having a small child at home, all of them, more or less, are to some extent harmful to humans.

Let me know and if you have any doubts or something is not clear you know where to find me

Dr. Maria Giovanna Davoli
