Apple compote

Homemade preparations for the winter are inconceivable without apple compote. It's easy to roll it up. For compote, 3-liter cans are required. For 1 can take 750 g of fruit. They are washed, cleaned of seed pods. Cut into slices and put in a sterilized jar. Boil water in a saucepan. Step 3. Place the apples in the container in which you will cook your jam. Better if it is made of aluminum or stainless steel, in no case should it burn.

Step 4. Cover the fruit with sugar and put on low heat. Bring to a boil, let it simmer for 10 minutes, stir occasionally, but not too much, do not turn the jam into jam.

Remove from heat, let it cool to room temperature.

Step 5. After cooling, put it on the fire again and bring it to a boil in the same way, let it boil for 5 minutes, remove from heat and let it stand for 20 minutes so that it just stops being boiling water, but it is still hot.

Step 6. Now add cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves to the jam. Stir to spread the spices throughout the jam and let the jam sit for another 5 minutes.

Step 7. Return to the fire again, bring to a boil, let it simmer for another 5 minutes, this is necessary for the apples to absorb the spices.

Step 8. Remove from heat and pour into sterilized jars, roll up the lids and turn over.

Let them stand like this until they cool down.

Drop the workpiece into the basement for storage, you can also store it in the pantry or just in the kitchen cabinet.

  • Remember that any apple jam, in view of their characteristics, can quickly become moldy or fermented, so you need to store an open jar in the refrigerator with a lid.
  • Never leave a spoon in it, it will oxidize and the taste of the jam will spoil.
  • If you suffer from diabetes, but, of course, you also want to close the jam for the winter, replace sugar with fructose. 1 kg of sugar can be replaced with 0.5 kg of fructose, and you can enjoy delicious sweet preparations.


Apple and citrus compote for the winter without sterilization

You will need: 6 medium apples, half an orange, half a lemon, 300g sugar, 2.5L water.

Preparation... Wash the apples, peel, remove the seed chambers and stalks, cut into slices.

Wash citrus fruits, scald with boiling water, cut into thick circles.

Arrange the fruits in sterilized jars - each should have several apple slices and 2-3 cups of orange and lemon.

Pour boiling water over the jar, cover with a lid and let stand for 20 minutes, wrapped in a towel.

Drain the water into a saucepan and, adding sugar, boil again.

Pour hot syrup over fruit in jars and roll up the lids.

Flip the jars, lids down, wrap with a towel and let cool completely as they are. Then put it away for storage.
